We recently sat down with Amrita Kamat, a payments specialist in our Hyderabad office, to find out more about payments in India.

When you're not at work, where would one find you?

Mid-day.com is a newspaper website for readers in Mumbai, India which has been in the AdSense program since 2005. According to Gauri Daswani, who was the Mid-day.com Assistant Manager at the time, 50% of the site's revenue is generated through AdSense. "Monetization has become much easier with the AdSense model," she says. "To ensure good results from AdSense, it is imperative that we create compelling content which in turn accounts for a good user experience and definitely benefits Google's advertisers."

Initially, Gauri and her team relied on fixed ad colors and placements. They noticed that the site was earning a similar amount of revenue each month. "We had a problem choosing color codes and ad placements, which we didn't know could actually impact our revenue so drastically," she remembers. But she soon found the benefits of testing with custom channels.

"We placed channels on the ad units and changed the ad positions to understand the performance of each unit, resulting in much higher revenue," she says. For example, Gauri added a 300x250 medium rectangle to the bottom of each article and moved her link unit from the right sidebar to the left. In addition, she updated the colors of her ad and link units to match the look and feel of the rest of her site. Together, all of these changes resulted in a 60% increase in revenue.

"It is now easy to optimize the site's performance with custom channels. They give us a complete picture of how different ads are performing on our site, and help us to compare all ad units and pages," Gauri comments. Even now, her team continues to experiment with other changes to find what will perform best for Mid-day.com. "We have learned that subtle changes can produce significant results."

Is it really as easy to make money with Google AdSense as many would lead you to believe? Now that I’ve become heavily involved with managing Google AdSense programs.
Unfortunately, a lot of people bought into the idea that there was a lot of easy money to be made and they are now finding out they aren’t making nearly as much as they thought they would. Additionally, Google has a lot of prohibited practices when it comes to AdSense, and too many webmasters are finding out they violated Google’s policies after the fact - often because they never bothered to read the AdSense policies in the first place.
Webmasters must not only comply with AdSense policies, but their web sites must also comply with Google’s webmaster policies.
Prerequisites for Making Money with AdSense
To make money with Google AdSense you need plenty of traffic coming in to your site or there won’t be anyone to click the ads.
You also need to have content that will attract the ads with the highest Pay Per Click (PPC) rate that are relevant to that content. Then, you need to lay out your web pages so the ads blend in with your web site. Studies have revealed that people who visit sites that contain ads that use colors that are not in harmony with the actual web site tend to develop “ad blindness”. Meaning no matter how much traffic comes into your site, chances are no one will click the ads because they’ll be ignoring them. If no one clicks, you make nothing.
Dealing with Competitors
If you offer products or services on you web site, the first thing you’ll notice when you begin hosting PPC ads is that many of the ads are coming from your competitors. Therefore, you’ll want to put ads on pages that aren’t earning you any money, or do like I did and not put ads on your site until you’re so busy anyway you’d rather make a few dollars off of your competitors than to continue turning business away with nothing to show for it.
Google AdSense allows you to specify up to 200 URLs for sites you want to bar from placing ads on your pages. The problem is that most times you won’t know the competitors are out there until their ads appear.

Google Money Making Ad Options

Google offers three ways to make money from them:
* Google AdSense for Content - A variety of size and shape ads for placing in your content are available. These can be text or image ads or both - you specify what you’ll allow. Ad units are full ads. Link units are simply a strip of text links that your visitors might want to click. Google allows you to put up to 3 Ad Units and 1 Link unit on each page of your web site, provided you follow its policies - both for AdSense and for webmasters.
* Google AdSense for Search - This places a search box on your web site. When a user enters a term and conducts a search, a search results page opens, that hosts more pay-per-click ads. You can customize the color scheme of the search results page to harmonize with your web site.

* Google Referrals - Here you make money by referring visitors to use a Google product, like AdSense, AdWords, the Google Toolbar and other Google software. Just like Google AdSense for Content and AdSense for Search, Google generates the code that you paste into the desired location on your web page. You can choose from a wide variety of buttons and text links of different colors. As an example of how Google Referrals works, if someone goes to your site and clicks the link and signs up for an AdSense account, when that person earns a $100 from Google AdSense and receives a payout from Google, you’ll also receive $100 for referring them. This is a great idea to me, because you can be the world’s worst Google AdSense advertiser, but if an ad dynamo happens to visit your site and uses your referral link, you can make money anyway!
Google AdSense Payments
Google will not issue an AdSense payment until your earnings exceed $100. Unfortunately, there are loads of Google AdSense Forum entries about web site operators who accumlated $90 or more in click through earnings only to get banned from Google and not get paid anything at all before they ever reached $100. The fundamentals for making money are the same. You still need plenty of traffic, you still need high-paying ads, and you still need to design your site to harmonize with the ads to get people to click.

EcoMethane Landfill Gas Project
Waste to energy: mitigating greenhouse gas emissions through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) at a landfill gas project in Mexico

What is Aguascalientes?
The first of its kind to be registered with the CDM in Mexico, The Aguascalientes EcoMethane Landfill Gas (LFG) project was developed to address the LFG emissions from two local landfills, San Nicolas and Cumbres. In addition to reducing greenhouse gases (GHGs) through capture and flaring of the LFG, the project has also installed 2-4 MW of electricity which reduces fossil-fueled grid energy. As such, the project provides a strong example of how the CDM can be used to address climate change while also encouraging the goals of sustainable development.
Why Landfill Gas?
When organic materials decompose in landfills, methane (CH4) is released. Methane has 21 times the global warming potential of CO2; however, its impacts can be mitigated if landfill methane is captured and flared or used to generate electricity.
While the primary concern over methane emissions is related to its potency as a greenhouse gas (GHG), emissions of LFG can also have significant local health and safety implications. Concentrated LFG can cause asphyxiation and/or toxic effects in humans, and contains over 150 trace components that can cause other local and global environmental
problems such as unpleasant odor, ozone layer depletion, and smog due to ground-level ozone creation.
In the case of Aguascalientes, the Cumbres landfill was opened in 1986 and operated as a sanitary landfill until its closure in 1998. The San Nicolas landfill was subsequently opened in 1999, and will remain open through 2010. Both landfills are owned by the municipal government, and prior to the Aguascalientes project, no systems existed to actively capture or flare the LFG. Moreover, there was no economic incentive or support to develop LFG projects in Mexico, due primarily to the cost of implementation. As such, landfills in Mexico like those at Aguascalientes continued to contribute to climate change while forgoing clean energy opportunities.
Waste to Energy
The Aguascalientes LFG project was developed by EcoMethane, a joint venture between EcoSecurities and Biogas Technology, to finance, construct, and operate a project that would capture and make productive use of the methane emissions from the local landfills. The project involved

investing in a highly efficient gas collection system, flaring equipment, and a modular electricity generation plant with an installed capacity between 2-4 MW which combusts the LFG to produce electricity for export to the grid. The system was also designed to be flexible so that it can be easily extended to different parts of the landfill in the future.

• menutup program-program yang dijalankan,

• melihat apa saja yang sedang diketik,

• membuka dan menutup CD-ROM drive,

• mematikan komputer.

CARA KERJA TROJAN

Trojan masuk melalui dua bagian, yaitu bagian client dan server.
Ketika korban (tanpa diketahui) menjalankan komputer, kemudian penyerang akan menggunakan client untuk koneksi dengan server dan mulai menggunakan trojan. Trojan dapat bekerja dengan baik dengan jenis protokol TCP/IP, tetapi beberapa trojan juga dapat menggunakan protokol UDP dengan baik.
Ketika server mulai dijalankan (pada komputer korban), Trojan umumnya mencoba untuk menyembunyikan diri di suatu tempat dalam sistem komputer tersebut.
kemudian mulai “mendengarkan” di beberapa port untuk melakukan koneksi, memodifikasi registry dan atau menggunakan metode lain yaitu metode autostarting yaitu Trojan akan secara otomatis aktif saat komputer dihidupkan.

JENIS-JENIS TROJAN

Dari berbagai macam Trojan yang telah beredar dan menginfeksi pemakai Internet, dapat diklasifikasikan berdasarkan ciri-cirinya. Menurut Dancho Danchev (2004), Trojan dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi delapan jenis, antara lain sebagai berikut:

1. Trojan Remote Access

Termasuk Trojan paling populer saat ini. Prosesnya adalah menunggu seseorang menjalankan Trojan yang berfungsi sebagai server dan jika penyerang telah memiliki IP address korban, maka penyerang dapat mengendalikan secara penuh komputer korban

2. Trojan Pengirim Password

Tujuan dari Trojan jenis ini adalah mengirimkan password yang berada di komputer korban atau di Internet ke suatu e-mail khusus yang telah disiapkan.

3. Trojan File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

Fungsi yang dijalankan adalah membuka port 21 di komputer korban yang menyebabkan mempermudah seseorang memiliki FTP client untuk memasuki komputer korban tanpa password serta melakukan download atau upload file

4. Keyloggers

Keyloggers termasuk dalam jenis Trojan yang sederhana, dengan fungsi merekam atau mencatat ketukan tombol saat korban melakukan pengetikan dan menyimpannya dalam logfile. Trojan ini dapat dijalankan pada saat komputer online maupun offline.

5. Trojan Penghancur

Satu-satunya fungsi dari jenis ini adalah untuk menghancurkan dan menghapus file. Sekali terinfeksi dan tidak dapat melakukan penyelamatan maka sebagian atau bahkan semua file sistem akan hilang.

6. Trojan Denial of Service (DoS) Attack

Trojan ini mempunyai kemampuan untuk menjalankan Distributed DoS (DDoS) jika mempunyai korban yang cukup. Gagasan utamanya adalah bahwa jika penyerang mempunyai 200 korban pemakai ADSL yang telah terinfeksi, kemudian mulai menyerang korban secara serempak

Trojan Proxy/Wingate digunakan pada Telnet yang tanpa nama, ICQ, IRC, dan untuk mendaftarkan domain dengan nomor kartu kredit yang telah dicuri serta untuk aktivitas lain yang tidak sah

8. Software Detection Killers

Munarman Ancam Lawan Bila Dipecat dari YLBHI

Perlawanan menjadi pilihan yang akan diambil oleh Ketua Dewan Pengurus YLBHI

Munarman bila diberhentikan dari jabatannya. Munarman bahkan bersikeras tidak

akan mundur bila alasannya adalah keterlibatannya menjadi tokoh Hizbut Tahrir

Indonesia (HTI).

"Kalau diberhentikan saya akan melakukan perlawanan,"

ujar Munarman saat dihubungi detikcom, Kamis (6/4/2006).

Namun

sayangnya, Munarman enggan menjelaskan bentuk perlawanan apa yang akan dia

lakukan. Ia juga mengatakan bahwa tudingan dirinya sebagai pimpinan atau tokoh

HTI tidah benar, apalagi masuk dalam struktur organisasi

tersebut.

"Saya bukan pimpinan, saya tidak masuk dalam struktur, bahwa

saya berkawan dengan orang-orang HTI itu iya," katanya.

Teman, saya mengatakan kepada anda sekali lagi: Tidak ada seorangpun yang menekuni suatu bidang, apapun bidang tsb, dan langsung mendapatkan hasil tanpa mengalamai kegagalan sementara.

Kalau anda sekarang sedang kerja di sebuah perusahaan dengan posisi supervisor, manager, atau direktur, coba ingat kembali apakah untuk mendapatkan posisis tsb gampang? Apakah proses mendapatkan posisi tsb selalu mulus terus tanpa ada rintangan apapun?
